Manchester City are preparing to launch a move for Lazio defender Stefan Radu, according to the player's agent.
Radu, from Romania, has two years left on his current contract but could follow in the footsteps of Aleksandar Kolarov, who joined City from Lazio in a £16 million deal this summer.
The 24-year-old can play either at centre half or left-back, and his agent Victor Becali now claims City are keen to seal a deal for Radu as soon as the January transfer window opens.
"Stefan has another two years on his contract with Lazio but there is a valid offer from Manchester City," Becali told adevarul.ro. "Coach Roberto Mancini knows the Italian championship and Radu, and when City played in Timisoara in the Europa League, Mancini met my brother (to talk about Radu)."
Radu joined Lazio from Dinamo Bucharest in 2008 and has made nine appearances for Romania. He has started every game this season for Lazio, who are currently at the top of Serie A on the hunt for their first title since 2000.
"Radu is 24-years-old, last year he played well and this year he's playing very well," Becali added to tuttomercatoweb. "In my opinion he is therefore definitely ready for a big club like Juventus, AC Milan or Inter, but we haven't talked with them."
